The words I never said…

Are about the ways she is, like a sleeping beauty receiving her colours on her eyelids
in spectres of light and how she laughs, making the crystal sing and old books pages
ruffle on shelves.
I never spoke about how her joyous fairies, like autumn gentle days, carry her veils of
emotions, until he finds her. And he does, smiling still, ready to fly away with him, like
a line drawn with purpose on a textured page
I stayed silent when the pastel nuances of flowers and their silence resonated inside
the house, when he kept her possessively close and she accepted, with joy, that from
now on they’ll show themselves as two sculpted figurines, one beside each other
forever.
They looked at me with open souls, like the sky of freckled stars on her shoulders,
like palms keeping safe fresh clovers, lucky and frail. In contrast with the hardened
leather of old holly books, and wise icons that hears their vows echoing.
I told her balloons aren’t filled with air, but wishes and she laughs to my camera
because today she believes in fairy tales, with pixies in blue next to her and the price
that placed another heart on her fingers, his and just for her.
I said nothing about how he smiles only for her and never for the picture, about how
his hand touches her to make sure she’s real and she touches back to say yes, I am,
you are too.
I was silent, for the dance torn from a story page, with a hand kiss and waves of lace
and veil, to spread over the night, to breathe life into the leaves from her hair, and the
cuteness in the pair of puppies, and the night sky, bearer of secrets and promises.
When the fireworks fell dark, when the steps went quiet and the dance went to sleep,
along with the smiles and their ride into the sunset, towards their own story, I realised
there was nothing else left to say.
And all the words I never said are in the visual storytelling of this wedding.

The words I never said…
Are hidden in her freckles, in the delicate push of soles on wooden floors, warm and
blessed by the sun, like this preparation. I’m alone in rooms full of life, because she
look through me, to his coming, from elsewhere, and from there, from the same
world, how can there be another way, he returns her yearning.
They both relieve, through hurried fingers that get them ready and bless them, on
stairways full of echoes of steps and typewriting machine sounds of creation, the
childhood that brought them here, like a road filled with divine guidance.
I say nothing, because she recalls her mother gathering them around the table and
sharing, among many and loving, a handful of boiled potatoes, to go around and fill
their bellies. And how they prayed, thanking the Lord, for the food on their table and
Not only once, she says, they heard someone knocking as they prayed there, hungry
and humble, and abundance came through the door to fill them all.
And today the family reunites again to feast on love and happiness and mouths are
hungry just for pray words and bellies hurt only from laughter, hands reach to ask
only for hugs, but the same feeling of gratitude and simple, pure happiness abounds,
like the earthly smell of old wood in a house.
She smiles him tears, as if it’s only the first time she discovers him, and their joy is
reflected on the lake and in teary eyes, for it’s too great the presence of a spirit to be
contained in two small bodies. They touch each other tentatively, for the words said
until now to stay intact and new words, vows and lessons, gather at their feet, on the
wrinkles of their intertwined hands and on wild flowers in her hands.
I fall silent when a guitar starts and to not disturb the waves, the veils and curls of her
hair, I watch them through the lens, wordless to the conversation they have in eyes,
mind and still lips, red and happy, kissing lightly promises on her small hands.
I said nothing about how they are like two frowning children when they play faces at
each other, when they fit into the loving arms of family and when they wear their
crowns and wear each other, nothing about what they said and laughed out loud.
All the words I never said, along with tears I’ll never take back, are in the visual
storytelling of this fairy-tale wedding.
